ARTIST’S STATEMENT
In this piece, I wanted to show the impact of the foster care system. My artistic creation depicts the lonesomeness felt by those who have no family and are continually being shuffled from home to home. Being uprooted from their way of life creates sadness and loss of voice for children in the foster care system. My drawing was intended to let these children be heard. Because of the tone of the picture, I used graphite to emphasize the meaning and invoke catharsis in the viewer. The grayscale media reflects the dark imagery presented and helps to emphasize the purpose.
